The information below is for Clinical Trainees and Associate Applicants who will provide clinical services previously reserved for licensed clinicians. Clinical Trainees are graduate students working toward social work, MFT, PCC and psychology degrees, currently in practicum. Associate applicants are post-graduate clinicians who have applied for, but have not yet received, their associate license (e.g. ASW, AMFT).

This California Department of Healthcare Services (DHCS) sponsored website contains helpful information about clinical documentation, including written guides and video trainings. These trainings are for both service providers and management. 

CalMHSA Clinical Documentation Guides:

NEW Clinical Documentation Guides Now Available - CalMHSA has updated its Clinical Documentation Guides for Specialty Mental Health Services (SMHS) and Substance Use Disorder Services (SUD).

The four previous guides for each type of service have been replaced with comprehensive, updated documents - one for SMHS and one for SUD.
